Experience the best of Zoo Negara Malaysia

One of Zoo Negara's most popular exhibits is the Giant Panda Conservation Centre. Xing Xing and Liang Liang, two adorable pandas, call Zoo Negara home as a symbol of friendship between China and Malaysia. But hurry, they'll only be here until 2024! Just 22 countries in the world have pandas – this is a rare chance to see these amazing creatures up close.

Butterflies are frequently misunderstood because they are classified as insects. But these stunning creatures are critical to the life of all vertebrates, including ourselves! Take a closer look at these winged beauties in many different colors and forms at the spectacular Butterfly Garden.

Seven species of hornbills are housed in Zoo Negara, out of a total of ten species identified in Malaysia. In 2010, the Hornbill Centre was established as a breeding centre for Great Hornbills, Rhinoceros Hornbills, Wrinkled Hornbills, and Oriental Pied Hornbills.

The Reptile House in Zoo Negara has both outdoor and indoor exhibits. Behold the world's largest crocodiles, the saltwater or estuarine crocodiles, who are relaxing in their pool. Tortoises, terrapins, and lizards are also on display in the Reptile House. The Reptile House's ground level houses both venomous and non-venomous snake collections.

Three gentle Malaysian elephants call Zoo Negara home. Siti, Sibol, and Trang, who are originally from Pahang, are in their late twenties and early thirties. Even though these elephants have long since retired from the elephant show, they remain the zoo's three superstars.

Over 300 free-roaming birds live in the Tunku Abdul Rahman lake, located in the heart of Zoo Negara. The two islands in the middle of the lake are home to painted storks, ibises, egrets, swans, and pelicans. Prepare your camera for excellent photo sessions, particularly around their feeding times of 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

The Bird Aviary at Zoo Negara houses one of the country's largest collections of bird species. Visit Zoo Negara and see the Milky Storks in their native habitat. You can also take a stroll around the Bird Aviary and listen to the orchestra of nature's melody created by various birds.

A group of wallabies, as well as one of Australia's most famous icons, the kangaroo, live at this Australia-themed exhibit. A flock of emus, Australia's largest bird, share the same display as the wallabies. Pademelons, the smallest of the zoo's marsupials, can also be found in the zoo.

On January 23, 2010, eight Humboldt penguins traveled from a frigid Czech Republic Zoo to the tropical rainforest of Zoo Negara as part of a captive breeding operation. These flightless birds are named after Alexander von Humboldt, an 18th century explorer, who discovered the Humboldt Current off the coast of South America.

​​Children's World is a place where you can let your kids run around and have their senses stimulated while having fun. Your children can pet the deer, goats, and miniature horses inside. Count the bunnies or tortoises in your child's displays to help them learn numbers.

Out of the world's eight bear species, you can see three: Asiatic Black Bear, Brown Bear, and Malayan Sun Bear, without having to travel the globe. If you're a bear fan, the Bear Complex is where you'll find these majestic creatures. Bring a nice lunch and join the bears for a picnic.

Savannah Walk, the zoo's biggest open-plan exhibit, is home to Sable antelopes, Scimitar-horned oryx, giraffes, ostriches, zebras, and white rhinoceroses, among other African creatures. The Savannah Walk closely resembles the actual Savannah lowlands in Africa, despite the lack of trees to provide shade.

Duke, Kibu, and Chombie are members of a family of Nile Hippopotamuses at Zoo Negara. We commemorated the arrival of two Nile Hippopotamus calves in 2009. Observe the pygmy hippopotamus as it submerges in the water. It's so still that it could pass for a large rock!

There are many nocturnal animals in the Mammal Kingdom. Leopard cats, slow loris, Malay civets, pumas, leopards, raccoons, striped hyenas, and Binturong all call this area home. If you've ever wondered what a capybara, the world's largest rodent, looks like, the Mammal Kingdom is the place to go.

Tunku Abdul Rahman Aquarium is one of the country's oldest public aquariums. It is the country's first-ever exhibition on the Malaysian River Journey, focusing on aquatic animals and vegetation from the highlands to the sea. The aquarium has uncommon and endangered species such as crabs, prawns, aquatic insects, and aquatic vegetation, as well as fish that are regularly found in Malaysian rivers.

The African Lions at Zoo Negara's Cat Walk are the real-life Lion King, reclining on the platform of their open-concept display. During the early morning or late afternoon, look for our newest bundles of joy, the Malayan tiger cubs, playing with their mother in their exhibit. These cats behave in the same way as your domestic cat does at home, with their size being the only difference, of course!

The Ape Centre is located at Zoo Negara's highest point. There, you may view a group of African chimps as well as two orangutan species; Bornean orangutans and Sumatran orangutans. The Ape Centre is one of the zoo's coolest and most scenic locations, with thick foliage all around.

Fun shows featuring sea lions and macaws are organized at the Zoo Negara every day. Currently, the shows are suspended. Please check the official website to check when they reopen.

Come see some truly colossal bees at the Bee Museum! Zoo Negara is presently Malaysia's largest honey producer.

The Multi-Animal Photo Corner is located by the zoo's main entrance and is open only on weekends. Guests can have their pictures taken with snakes, miniature horses, and birds.

Feeding animals is allowed at certain exhibits of Zoo Negara including Children’s World and Javan Deer. The duration is 1 hour only for weekends and public holidays and the exact time may change without prior notice.
