Did you know?

Aquaria KLCC houses the world's largest single-bowl fish tank, spanning over 90 meters long and holding 2.5 million liters of water.

The aquarium's Shipwreck exhibit features a real-life 5-tonne fishing trawler named "Eleanor," which was sunk artificially to create a unique underwater ecosystem.

Aquaria KLCC offers the chance to dive with Sand Tiger sharks through their immersive "Cage Rage" experience, which was definitely not designed for the faint of heart!

Is Aquaria KLCC worth visiting?

Aquaria KLCC feels far more immersive than most city aquariums. Hidden beneath the KLCC complex, it combines blue-lit tunnels, rainforest habitats, jellyfish galleries, and close-up shark encounters into a compact indoor route that works especially well between Kuala Lumpur sightseeing stops.

What makes it stand out:

  • The 90m Living Ocean tunnel with sharks and giant stingrays overhead
  • Daily feeding sessions and diver presentations are included with admission
  • Fully indoor attraction near Petronas Twin Towers and KLCC Park
  • Compact 2–3 hour route that’s easy to fit into a KL itinerary

The biggest payoff is the contrast: you step out of Kuala Lumpur’s busiest district and into a surprisingly calm underwater world.

The Living Ocean Tunnel

he aquarium’s signature experience: a 90-metre underwater tunnel with moving walkways beneath sharks, rays, sea turtles, and giant groupers. This is the busiest zone in the aquarium and where most visitors spend the longest.

Evolution Zone

ntroduces prehistoric marine life, freshwater species, and piranhas through compact exhibits near the entrance. Best explored slowly before crowds build later in the day.

Flooded Forest

A rainforest-inspired freshwater habitat featuring giant arapaima, Asian small-clawed otters, and freshwater stingrays. One of the quieter sections of the route.

Weird & Wonderful

Dedicated to jellyfish, seahorses, electric-blue crustaceans, and unusual deep-sea creatures. Lighting is intentionally low, making it one of the most atmospheric galleries.

Touch Pool

An interactive zone where visitors can touch small marine animals including horseshoe crabs and starfish. Particularly busy during school holidays and weekends.

Aquatheatre

Hosts scheduled feeding sessions and diver presentations throughout the day. Shark feeding sessions draw the largest crowds and are worth timing your visit around.

Upgrade your Aquaria KLCC visit with combo tickets that pair the aquarium with Petronas Twin Towers, KL Tower, or Genting SkyWorlds. They reduce separate booking hassle, save money, and turn a short aquarium visit into a full Kuala Lumpur sightseeing day.

How to explore Aquaria KLCC

Budget around 2 hours for a standard visit and closer to 3 if you plan to watch feeding sessions or spend extra time in the tunnel galleries. The route is fully indoors and designed as a one-way walkthrough.

Suggested route: Start in the Evolution Zone before moving through freshwater habitats and coastal ecosystems toward the Living Ocean tunnel. Time your route to reach the Aquatheatre shortly before feeding sessions begin, then finish in the Weird & Wonderful gallery.

Must-see: Living Ocean tunnel, shark feeding session, and Weird & Wonderful gallery.
Optional: Touch Pool and freshwater exhibits are better during quieter weekday mornings.

If you are short on time, head directly to the Living Ocean tunnel and Aquatheatre. Save the smaller educational galleries for a slower second visit.

Self-paced visits work well because the route is straightforward and clearly signposted. Combo tickets are useful if you want to continue to nearby attractions like the Petronas, KL Tower, Zoo Negara, and more.
